Explore Our Initiatives
Extended Hugs carries out its work through focused initiatives developed in collaboration with nonprofit organizations and community partners. Each initiative is designed to address specific needs affecting children, families, caregivers, and access to opportunity.
Our initiatives may evolve over time as community needs change, but our approach remains grounded in compassion, collaboration, and practical support.
Little Essentials
Little Essentials focuses on meeting the everyday needs of underserved children within school and community settings.
Through partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and local organizations, this initiative supports efforts such as:
- coats and cold-weather essentials
- backpacks and school supplies
- basic nutrition and lunch support
By addressing these foundational needs, Little Essentials helps remove barriers that impact a child’s ability to learn, participate, and feel supported.
Families in Care
Families in Care supports families navigating serious or life-limiting illness, particularly when a child’s health places emotional and financial strain on the household.
This initiative focuses on connecting families to:
- practical resources
- partner-led support programs
- information that helps reduce overwhelm during difficult seasons
Families in Care is centered on dignity, compassion, and ensuring families are not left to navigate these challenges alone.
Caregiver Compass
Caregiver Compass is an education and guidance initiative designed to support caregivers at various stages of the caregiving journey.
With particular attention to adult children and young caregivers supporting parents or loved ones, this initiative provides:
- education about available services and care options
- guidance around planning and next steps
- support resources that help caregivers feel informed and less isolated
Caregiver Compass exists to offer clarity and direction during what can often be a confusing and emotionally demanding experience.
Pathways to Possibility
Pathways to Possibility focuses on expanding access to education and economic opportunity for individuals facing systemic or financial barriers.
This initiative may include:
- STEM-focused scholarships for academically strong students with limited financial resources
- seed support for minority women-owned businesses meeting defined eligibility criteria
- partnerships that promote long-term opportunity and advancement
Pathways to Possibility is rooted in the belief that talent and potential should not be limited by access or circumstance.
How Our Initiatives Work
Extended Hugs does not operate in isolation. Our initiatives are carried out through collaboration with nonprofit organizations, community partners, sponsors, and advocates who share a commitment to meaningful, people-centered support.
Participation, availability, and eligibility may vary by initiative and partnership.
