From Ilene Carol

Extended Hugs was born from lived experience — not theory, not charity trends, but years of walking through life alongside people who needed care, compassion, patience, and understanding.

For much of my life, I have been a caregiver in one form or another. I have supported loved ones through illness, mental health struggles, and life-altering transitions. I have witnessed firsthand how quickly families can become overwhelmed — emotionally, financially, and spiritually — when support systems fall short or disappear altogether.

Caregiving is rarely talked about honestly. It is often invisible. It can be isolating. And too often, those who give the most are left carrying the heaviest weight alone.

Extended Hugs exists to change that.

This organization was created to offer support where it is most needed — not just in moments of crisis, but in the quiet, in-between spaces where people are trying to hold everything together. It is about providing dignity, relief, and reassurance to individuals and families navigating difficult circumstances.

Extended Hugs is rooted in empathy. It recognizes that sometimes what people need most isn’t a grand gesture — it’s a reminder that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

My hope is that Extended Hugs becomes a place of comfort and connection. A place where compassion is practical, support is thoughtful, and help arrives without judgment.

This work is personal.
And it is purposeful.

If Extended Hugs resonates with you — whether as someone seeking support, a volunteer, or a partner — you are welcome here.
